56 years ago today Emmett Till was murdered. They found his body mangled at the bottom of the Tallahatchie River with a cotton gin fan tied around his neck with barbed wire. Till had dared to break one of the sacred rules of the Jim Crow South. He “flirted” with a white woman. He was only fourteen years old at the time of his death. I dedicate this post to him ; He did not live his life in vain. He’s gone, but not forgotten.
His mother refused to have a closed casket service because she wanted everyone to see the real ugliness of racism.
Smh. This is still just so… He is literally impossible to recognize.
